What is your New Years’ Resolution for 2008?
I want to finally begin to take care of me!
Often, we women take care of everyone first and we come last.
I am now setting aside certain areas that are for me.
I plan to further refine my diet, exercise more and got to that
occasional comedy show I want to see.
I plan to stop always putting what is best for me on
the back burner, and concentrate more on my health and reaching a healthy,
active 100!
Did you keep your Resolution(s) in 2007?
Yes, I did!
What’s the main reason you think people fail to
meet their goals?
They make a resolution that is bigger than they can
eventually cope with. I make
only one a year and concentrate on that one promise to myself.
I make the goal meaningful, but obtainable.
What do you look forward to in 2008 that didn’t
seem possible in 2007?
My son’s continued success in school.
He is now in a superb school which is as nurturing and supportive
as his home. I see him
completing his next book and the sales of his book which is coming out in
the spring soaring.
What’s your best feature?
My hands, and if you saw them, you’d say “Huh?”
My hands are not pretty. They’re
very small, worn and are marred by Dupytren’s Disease.
But they are my best friends. Not only do they type like the
wind, but they allow me to cook, bake bread, pet my dog, hold a book, and
so much more. I love my hands.
What’s your favorite day of the week and why?
Saturday, hands down.
Laid back and calm, I get most of my relaxing done on Saturdays.
Neighbors come out and walk around the lake, things slow down and
I’m able to really concentrate on some serious cooking.
What celebrity actress do you think you look like
or have been told you resemble?
I always get Meryl Streep.
It’s not obvious in my photo, but there is a definite
resemblance, not only in looks, but actions as well.
What business tip would you like to offer?
If you want to be a writer, write.
Write every day. Don’t
let any excuses stop you. If
you’re blocked, write anyway. Write
drivel if you have to because, like anything that’s stopped up, a
continual flow will unclog your brain and allow creativity to flow!

Best Selling Baby Boomer Author, Debra Shiveley Welch
is a writer to be reckoned with in the literary world! In just a few
short months, her book Son of My Soul: The Adoption of
Christopher jumped all the way to the Top 20 on Amazon.com.
In a recent review by MidWest Books, senior reviewer Shirley Johnson
wrote:
“I believe it is true that God anoints the pen of
some writers to bring forth words from their heart to those with a
specific need. In my opinion, author Debra Shiveley Welch has the
anointing of the Lord upon her words in her newest work, Son of My Soul
- The Adoption of Christopher, as she tells the story of her adoption
of her beloved son, Christopher ... Her story and Christopher's is one you
will treasure and remember in your heart for a long time to come...One
that will bring a tear and a smile. A story of horror, pain, and rejection
that is replaced with courage, hope, faith, love and victory. This is a
book every adoptive parent should read, and every person who has a child
of their heart, for in this read you will find the true meaning of love."
